Dwarf Flag Cichlid: A Comprehensive Guide (Laetacara curviceps)

The Dwarf Flag Cichlid (Laetacara curviceps) is one of those fish that doesn’t get nearly enough credit in the hobby. It’s not loud or flashy like some cichlids, but once you keep them, you realize how good they are—calm, colorful in a subtle way, and full of personality.

They’ve got that soft blue-green sheen, a nice little flag-like dorsal, and a peaceful temperament that actually makes them work in community tanks—something you can’t say about a lot of cichlids.

Laetacara curviceps comes from South America, primarily:
